Good evening, all, and welcome to our weekly high school football chat. Danny Lawhon here to guide through another high-octane couple of hours We're on a new interface this week, and you might have noticed, so we'll hope that things go smoothly.
In the interest of full disclosure, I'm still learning this format, too, so we'll see how it all goes. We still welcome your comments, and they'll pop up in the chat as they always have. We have a couple of ideas for a scoreboard, but it won't be the same ticker that's run below the chat flow.
Glued to the top of the chat will be the video feed when it goes live tonight for Sioux Falls Washington and Rapid City Stevens. Rapid City Central is at Sioux Falls Roosevelt.
For games we're covering, we're staffing Lead-Deadwood and St. Thomas More, Belle Fourche and Spearfish -- Padraic Duffy is tweeting below -- Douglas and Sturgis and the SFW-RCS games.
Here's the list of games we're following tonight (I'll post our makeshift scoreboard in a few minutes):
Red Cloud at Crow Creek
Hot Springs at Custer
Lyman at New Underwood
R.C. Central at S.F. Roosevelt
R.C. Stevens at S.F. Washington
Dupree at R.C. Christian
Douglas at Sturgis
Sundance, Wyo., at Hill City
Wall at Philip
Kadoka at Colome
Belle Fourche at Spearfish
Lead-Deadood at St. Thomas More
Faith at Newell
As you can see, SFW-RCS game is up on the UStream account.
Second quarter score in Sturgis, the Scoopers are up on the Douglas Patriots 14-7. Both teams are looking for their first win of the season.
Final from this afternoon: Red Cloud topples Crow Creek with a shutout. 12-0 the tally.
St. Thomas More has just defeated Lead-Deadwood 50-0 by the mercy rule in Class A action with 8 minutes to play in the contest.
As we're learning as we go here tonight, there's a "make a comment" selection in the black bar near the top of the chat. That's where you can go make comments. To be honest, it took me a couple of minutes to find the place to post from your guys' end.
Sturgis maintains its 14-7 lead on Douglas at the half.
Sorry, folks, had a coverage drop on the video. Folks at the stadium are rebooting.
Yep, we have a person on the camera at the field and apparently there are Internet issues. We're working on a fix.
Two fruitless drives for Stevens and Washington to begin... 3 minutes gone in first quarter.
Folks, we're hearing we might be OK on the video for now (crossing fingers)
Try refreshing your video window and see what happens.
One sketchy possession was all SFW allowed Stevens to begin the game. Second drive for the Warriors went 80 yards in about 3 minutes. 7-0 mid-first.
No niceties being shown to Rapid City Central over East River. No. 1-ranked Sioux Falls Roosevelt all over the Cobblers, perhaps as expected. 38-0 at the break, there.
Guest, no report as of yet. Usually we have a Coyote lurker on the chat, but nothing tonight. If we see a score come across our wires, we'll pass it on ASAP.
We're a couple of weeks, is all, away from the playoffs. Reminder that only 12 Class AA teams will reach the postseason this year. Also, as has become the custom, we'll have a slew of Thursday games next week to end the regular season.
Washington on the move again, DaVonte ClayTate with a big run into the Raider red zone.
Holding penalty nullifies a SFW touchdown. And now the Warriors are in second and long at the RCS 14.
Haven't heard yet, Ringst. Coaches Ben Kramer and Russ Bailey are really good about getting us details and stats ... I'm sure we'll get something soon after the contest ends.
